Richard III and Parliament: Part 2

Did Parliament pose a threat to the King?


Overall, Parliament did not pose a threat to the King as its own powers were limited.
 
 
 
Rather it was extremely useful to the King as it was convenient for getting money out of his subjects and could intervene if the country fell into major crisis.
 
 
 
Nevertheless, it was in the King's interest to be diplomatic with Parliament.
A sensible King could use it to gauge the country's reaction to his policies and recognised that parliament could be used by over mighty nobles for a rebellion against the King.
 
 
 
It was therefore in his interest to be on good terms with Parliament
